The life of Jan Zahradníček was always a mix of tragedy and hope, from his childhood injury to his imprisonment by the communist party in the 1950s. Against all the repercussions and forbiddance to publish, Jan never stopped creating and his work continues to live on.
The poet´s fate and poems inspired the theatre Odjinud, which created a site-specific project in Káznice, where Jan was imprisoned. Later, during a pandemic in 2020, this theatre decided to collaborate with the Káznice LIVE project and together they created an updated audiovisual version, so called “film poem”.
Yours, Jan tries to show the audience that even though Káznice is now the place of art (online or offline), we can´t forget it´s darker past. It reminds us, that not even in the darkest hours the desire to create can´t be silenced, can´t be stopped, how it couldn´t be done with Jan Zahradníček.
