Our film Solo for One Hand was awarded in the category Music and Art, in the competition of European TV channels. The ceremony took place on 24. May in Dutch city Leeuwarden.
„The topic is closely bound to Brno, yet it is universal in Janacek’s way. Context of Janacek’s work is being presented here by the musicologist Milos Stedron,“ explains the producer from GNOMON Production Jan Hubacek.
„Janacek’s Capriccio is a wonderful composition, which has a unique story behind its origin. I wanted to work with this topic for a long while,“ says the director Pavel Jurda.
What made us even happier was all the feedback from the jury. „This is a courageous portrayal of artists overcoming their personal disability to become renowned in their field. The story is one of triumph, historical insight and musical heritage. (…) Credit must be afforded to the editor for the clever linkage of shots. The inclusion of the satirical and informative graphics was novel, artistic and an interesting take on archive. In general, this was a great piece of work on a subject that was historical and captivating and a true winner in the judge’s eyes. “
Solo for One Hand marked our first coproduction with Czech Television and will be screened at multiple film festivals, locally and globally. In the upcoming year it will be screened in Hiroshima and Palermo.
We congratulate all the artists and actors, who helped us create this movie.
